The GECKO WP 1+ securely hugs the waist with a stretch fit that limits movement and ensures comfort on the trail. The central compartment and two side stretch pockets have enough space for food, hydration and essential kit on short to moderate trail runs.
Main: 100% Nylon; Stretch Pockets: 88% Nylon, 12% Elastane; Harness: 100% Polyester
Review from Montane website:
I've begun to reach for this waist belt more and more over my other more traditional elasticated one piece belts. The reason for this is mainly comfort.
This gecko belt using velcro fasteners to give you that desired fit. When walking give yourself a looser fit, when things pick up; cinch it down for a more snug feel and then loosen again at the end of your adventure. Traditional waist belts feel too restrictive. This doesn't.
I usually carry my plethora of keys (key attachment in main compartment is secure), my large phone, a windbreaker, a buff and a foldable bag in many of my runs (as I sometimes like to go shopping after a workout) and gels in longer sessions. It can carry a small water bottle if you want but I tend to run with one on my hand when going for longer than 15km and then neatly place into the pack when I'm done with it.
For 30km + runs I pair this was a small backpack to carry my bottles at chest level. Just for the accessibility of the main compartment and easily slide away feature of my phone I still bring this gecko pack along. Can be considered overkill but I just like using it.
I've hand washed it a couple of times. No issue with the velcro. Have probably run in excess of 200 miles using this and no notable signs of wear.
Great for runners, cyclists, hikers, dog walkers and other adventurists that want to travel light without a backpack; and even moreso in hot climates.
